The building where the treaty was signed has been preserved and, today, the Waitangi Treaty Ground are a popular attraction.

Cost of Living

In general, while some things may seem more expensive and others cheaper, overall the cost of living in New Zealand is comparable to what you will find in any OECD country. To give you more of an idea – one independent international survey ranked Auckland 61st in the world in terms of its cost of living, and Wellington 83rd, far better than other major cities. More expensive cities included Hong Kong (2), Singapore (4), Shanghai (6), London (12), New York (16), Guangzhou (15), Sydney (31) and Melbourne (47) – showing that comparatively, New Zealand’s major metropolitan areas are more affordable than those in other countries.

Average personal income from wages and salaries in 2014 was NZ$51,532. However, many households have other people working too, and for households receiving wages and salaries, average annual income from all sources was NZ$88,712.

New Zealand schools, universities and institutes are known worldwide for their high standards. You will find the qualifications are internationally recognized and welcomed by employers. The NZQF ( New Zealand Qualification Framework) is divided into 10 levels, and covers a range of qualifications from certificates to doctoral degrees. The levels are based on how complex the learning is, with a level 1 certificate the least complex.

Academic Entry Requirement:

Diploma Level 5 & 6: At least 10+2 or equivalent recognized qualification with 50% and a minimum IELTS 5.5 not less than 5.0 each band or equivalent acceptable English test.

Bachelor’s Degree Level 7: At least 10+2 or equivalent recognized qualification with 55% and a minimum IELTS 6.0 not less than 5.5 each band or equivalent acceptable English test.

Graduate Certificate / Diploma Level 7: At least Bachelor’s degree or equivalent recognized qualification with 50% and a minimum IELTS 6.0 not less than 5.5 each band or equivalent acceptable English test.

Postgraduate Certificate / Diploma Level 8: At least Bachelor’s degree or equivalent recognized qualification with 55% and a minimum IELTS 6.5 not less than 6.0 each band or equivalent acceptable English test.

Master’s Degree Level 9: At least Bachelor’s degree with honours or equivalent recognized qualification with 60% and a minimum IELTS 6.5 not less than 6.0 each band or equivalent acceptable English test.

Doctoral Degrees: At least Master’s degree or equivalent recognized qualification with 60% and a minimum IELTS 7.0 not less than 6.5 each band or equivalent acceptable English test.
